Victorian Volleyball League 2026: A season of champions across Victoria

The 2026 Victorian Volleyball League season has come to a close, and there is plenty to celebrate.

Across Premier League, State League, Junior Premier League and Youth State League, hundreds of teams took to courts around Victoria, producing a season full of competitive volleyball, strong club performances and plenty of opportunities for players to test themselves.

With 302 teams and 2,488 matches played across the full VVL program, it has been another big season for Victorian volleyball.

Champions across the divisions

There were 18 divisions contested across the senior and junior competitions, with several clubs enjoying particularly successful campaign

• Yarra Ranges Volleyball Club finished on top in PL1W, followed by KVA Future Stars Volleyball Club and Dandenong Volleyball Club. In PL1M, Heidelberg Volleyball Club took the title, with Monash University Volleyball Club second and Melbourne University Renegades third.
• Volley Friends United Melbourne claimed PL2W, while Dandenong Volleyball Club took out PL2M.
• Dandenong had a strong presence throughout the women's State League competitions. Dandenong Volleyball Club Red won SL1W, while Dandenong also finished first in SL2W. Alliance Volleyball Club Gold was the SL3W champion.
• Carrum Downs Royals took out the SL1M title, Volley Friends United Melbourne White won SL2M and Volley Friends United Melbourne Green finished first in SL3M.
• The Junior Premier League titles went to Volley Friends United Melbourne in the men's competition and the Volleyball Institute of Performance in the women's competition.

KVA Future Stars make their mark

One of the standout stories from the junior competitions was the success of KVA Future Stars Volleyball Club.

KVA Future Stars finished first in four out of six Youth State League divisions:

YSL 17B1, YSL 15B, YSL 17G1 and YSL 15G.

Their success was particularly impressive given the strength of the competition, with the Volleyball Institute of Performance, Western Region Wolves, Heidelberg Volleyball Club, Carrum Downs Royals and other established junior programs all featuring prominently among the finalists.

There were also different clubs taking the honours in the other YSL divisions. Eastside Hawks Volleyball Club won YSL 17B2, while Mornington Volleyball Club Green claimed YSL 17G2.

The 2026 champions

The numbers behind the season

The size of the VVL competition is perhaps best shown by the numbers.

The JPL, SL and PL competitions alone involved 224 teams, with 1,804 matches and 6,767 sets played. There were 2,754 players and 347 team officials involved across those competitions, with matches taking place at 15 venues.

The Youth State League added another 78 teams and 684 matches, with 1,745 sets played. YSL featured 920 players and 128 team officials across seven venues.

Combined, the 2026 season delivered:

• 302 teams
• 2,488 matches
• 8,512 sets played
• 3,509 unique players
• 427 unique team officials
• 17 venues
• 101 referees
• 24 matches livestreamed on VVTV

Behind every one of those numbers are players, coaches, referees, team officials, volunteers and families who gave their time to make the season happen.

More than just the premierships

Of course, the final standings only tell part of the story.

For every team, the 2026 season meant something different. While competition and performance were an important part of the season, clubs were also focused on developing players, building strong team environments, gaining experience at higher levels and creating opportunities for athletes to compete and grow throughout the year.

That's one of the strengths of the VVL structure. From the senior Premier League competitions through to the youngest YSL divisions, there is a pathway for players at different stages of their volleyball journey.

The 24 matches livestreamed on VVTV also gave supporters another way to follow the competition, particularly for friends and family unable to make it to the venue.
