Melbourne Vipers announce Perry and Armstrong-Wallis as Head Coaches

Melbourne Vipers today announced the appointment of Matthew Perry and Luka Armstrong-Wallis as the Head Coaches leading the 2026 Melbourne Vipers program.

The appointments represent a new era for the Vipers program, with fresh approaches to both the men’s and women’s squads.

After leading the women’s program in 2025, Matthew Perry is appointed as the Head Coach of the Men’s team in 2026, returning to the national league men’s competition after several years. Perry, a former national team player and Head Coach of the Vultures National League team, will bring a wealth of experience to the program. Speaking after his appointment Perry shares that:

“I am excited to have the opportunity to build upon the brilliant Vipers’ legacy. 

Victoria has an enormous wealth of talented volleyballers, evident through both our success in the National Youth and Junior ranks, and the quality of our Premier League. 

I look forward to working with these athletes to deliver even more success.”


Luka Armstrong – Wallis, signals a new era of the Women’s Vipers program. From player to coach in a short period of time, Armstrong-Wallis represents a fresh and dynamic approach to the program with the hope that the Women will again be on top of the podium in 2026.

Armstrong-Wallis’ commitment to accountability, trust and continuous improvement is something that volleyball fans have seen over Luka’s past two seasons coaching the Premier League One champions, Dandenong, and Vipers fans will look forward to watching in 2026.

Armstrong – Wallis was excited to take on the challenge of coaching the Vipers:

“I’m honoured to take on the role of head coach for the Vipers women’s program. My focus is on building a high-performance environment where athletes are challenged to grow, compete, and showcase the highest standard of Victorian women’s volleyball.”
